Hi Jeff, Chris is right, normally you would, however most of the cores we take apart even though we do re-bush the rods for other reasons are near perfect. I would have to say to have your machine shop check them on their Sunnen gauge that reads in .0001's and they'll probably be around .0003"! If this shop has a pin boring machine then I like to see them bushed with the exact same center to center distances'. Actually we mock the short block up to see what the positive piston deck amount is and then bore the new bushings to a slightly different rod length as necessary to make the piston deck height come out where we want it to be, generally at +.010" (std. spec.). Also only use original equipment SAAB bushings, their material is awesome and will run for 300,000+ miles when they start out at .0002" to .0003" clearance. Dave
