From what I know, the 2.8L engine is
by far the least troublesome A4 engine
if you plan to rack up many miles.
While the 1.8T engine can be moded
to above 400Hp long term tests have shown
that the engine wear is such that
more then 120000 would most likely
not be achievable, this with the base
150Hp version...
So if you wish to get a car and chip it
and drive no more then 60000 miles the
1.8T will do a good job, above that...
Remind you that the 2.0L SAAB engine
delivers 750Hp in the Pikes Peak
Race car and 540Hp in the Rally Cross Saab.
As such 400Hp for the 1.8T engine is
realistic... as to how long it will
last... thats another question and
probably not the issue for those that
buy 400Hp 1.8T cars.
