you are SOL for anything that is visibly different. you will have the hide the ecu ( no prob) and probably use stock wiring or hide the fact that it is different somehow. of course but they wont check injectors if they can't see a wiring splice. i had a heck of a time getting passed with mine and i only had a early model throttle body ( it was a washington car though so they put it through the wringer) now if you find a lazy shop things are easier. i believe there is a set of bosch 550 cc peak and hold injectors ( low impedance ) that turn down to .25%?? try rc engineering or kistler for advice. nothing against spg9, i like them. but never settle for one opinion. the problem is span of control ( ex controls engineer here ). as you get to the top end the duty cycle is so high that you get no injector modulation if you have an injector that runs low enuff for off idle areas. For aftermarket ECU i suggest you check out http://www.dtafast.co.uk. they have the control software donwloadable for perusal. for 400 hp you have to have high r's ( torgue over a large range ). 400hp at 5200r's is highly improbable but at 7500 with the right cams it is then achieveable. it is torque that kills the transmission, not power but i doubt the sabb trans likes running at that speed, the bearing rollers are pretty big. an aftermrket ecu is the only way to achieve it. even a rev limit modified lh will not work, avoid it like the plague. my advise is to get all the iron together, put in a haltech/motec/dta or whatever ecu with direct drive spark and set it up with some 30 lb injectors or even stock for break in and initial tuning. that alone will keep you busy for a long time. I also think that a rrfpr is counterproductive ( i'll be dumping mine...the A/F curve was horrible on the dyno )to the process since no maps are available that map fuel pressure to demand. however if you use MAP ( manifold absolute pressure) instead of air flow you can tune the pressure into the injector curve by calibrating the increased FP into the map. It may also be possible to run in closed loop mode with a wide band o2 sensor. when you consider that stock block miata can thump out 380 to the wheel at 13 pounds of boost with a real ecu then the standard saab hi boost solution is very suspect.
ya see....i'm really not such a bad guy....a bit of a tease though and a stickler for details and once i start a dump...
oh and btw....it is a western cedar...not a spruce.
