Not entirely Saab related, this post. Anyway, thoughts on vacuum advance? I thought I remembered reading somebody saying that the SPG9 AID didn't work properly unless he used something or the other along with it. I don't recall what that something or the other was though.
I was having big ignition issues again the past couple of days. Big stutter around 4000rpm and up, just not wanting to rev. Tried swapping in plug wires - nope. Thought also it was the actual metal clip on the end of the plug wire not being secure enough. Since my vacuum advance unit is quite modified (took it apart, removed lower spacer, cut out the stop) I thought that might be the issue too. I put the one in from our not moving 88 9kT, and the rev issues are gone now. Now to find more boost and power out of it. Long ways of saying that I think my modded vacuum advance unit is buggered, or not working properly. Any ideas on properly installing another stop in there? I had a 6mm bolt secured with a locknut. If Brad from George's is reading, I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say too. Should I go back to this modified unit, work with the stop? Or should I use a stock advance unit? Appreciate your thoughts.
The non Saab content is in the picture - any idea what is in the engine bay of this FD Kevin?
