Not true about the bad ride, turn in rubbing, etc.....
9K's are a LOT different then the narrow fender welled C900's. I have Forgeline WC-3's in 18x7's (I am actually not a fan of HRE, go figure) & not only does it ride better then my 87 SPG with OEM rims, but I get ZERO turn in rubbing, VERY comfortable ride even with my 35 series tires :o)
Get 18's, they will fit! Abbott sells brake kits which require 18in brakes for the 9K's. I am attempting to fit those brakes on my 88 SPG :o)
