Get a lawyer and spend $1000 to beat a $100 fine>>>> Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Thu, 25 Oct 2001 18:43:52 In Reply to: Mass State ticket wastes my time..., Liam, Thu, 25 Oct 2001 17:46:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
73 in a 60 will get you pulled over in 99% of the cases(unless the cop is too busy with his doughnut and doesn't react quick enough for the radar). They'll usually let you slide on anything below 10 over the limit.
The cops, prosecutors, lawyers, and judges all have a scam going. The cop writes the ticket, and if you contest it, he will be subpoenaed to court(they make you pay for him being there BTW). The prosecutors are all arrogant assholes(one told me even a 15yr old could win the case based on the police report) who believe you are guilty before you even walk into court(based on the police report/ticket) because the cop would never ever lie.
The lawyers charge astronomical fees to win your case(much more than the fine is if you would have pled no contest and been done with it). The judges are not to be left out because if you are not a lawyer, they don't even want to talk to you. If you don't use the right language or file the proper forms or if you use the wrong hand gestures or don't donate to their re-election funds, you are screwed.
The cheapest way out of most minor offenses that don't hurt your record is to plead no contest or guilty, pay the fine, and be done with it(if jail, prison, or a lost liscense is involved a lawyer might be a good idea no matter what the cost). The courts know that most people will go this route.
How much did 7 hours of missed work cost you? Probably more than the fine is my guess.
Face it, you got busted speeding, it happens. Take your medicine and let it go.
WHY WASTE THE COURTS TIME OVER SOMETHING SO MINOR?
