Some years back I had the opportunity to drive a slightly modified 6 cyl 5 speed early 90's Honda Prelude. Can't say for certain just how moded it was, but most evident was a suspension lowering, plus low profile tires on oversized rims. The driving opportunity happened while working with the owner of the car, a notorious radio talk show hostess. We were doing a remote show and discovered upon arriving at the site that we had forgotten a crucial piece of equipment. I was requested to retrieve it - at the other end of Los Angeles, in rush hour traffic. It was decided I should take her car, as that would get me there and back sooner. Here's what I noticed: Instant and unlimited acceleration, a total feel for the road and car at any speed. Braking was equally impressive. Shifting, no matter up or down, was quick and smooth. It felt as though the gears snapped into place. I did things on that drive that I never did before and haven't done since, mostly because I haven't had a car with that high performance standard. And the kicker is that I didn't even think I was really pushing the car's limit!

Now mind you, I love my 82 900 8V T. It's truly a joy to drive and maintain, but I don't pretend it has anywhere near the standard of performance that I know exists. My question to you performance minded SAAB owners: Can you say that your car's performance matches the experience and standard I described? I'm quickly heading in the direction of acquiring a classic SPG and giving it the works performance-wise. I just want to know if the end result will be worth my time and effort. Since I know SAAB so well, I'd like to stay part of the family, but if I can't get what I'm looking for, then I'll look elsewhere. Of course, even if I do jump to another car make, I'll keep my trusty 82T. Thanks in advance for your insights.
