Thanks to ChrisX and Seattle Saab club for invitation to dyno days. It was a fun to see so many heavily modified and nicely maintained Saabs and to meet very technical guys. I felt really awkward with my dirty engine between all other clean cars.
Dyno results have been interesting. First run for power shown (4th gear):
Horse power: Max 217.2 HP @ 5500 RPM
Torque: Max 257.1 lb-ft @ 3300 RPM
Torque comes up @2500 RPM and remains close to 250 lb-ft till 4200 RPM.
When engine has max power (@5500 RPM) torque is 210 lb-ft.
All these measurements at wheels only, I am not sure about adjustments what are made on dyno computer for temperature or sea level.
So How do I calculate HP and torque at the engine? 15% loss or 10-12% loss?
With 15% loss numbers look too optimistic:
255 HP
302 lb-ft
12% loss:
246 HP
292 lb-ft
Still torque is too high, maybe it shouldn't be adjusted?
We did two other runs in 5th gear for max speed, and Viggen was able to reach 155 mph speed at wheels (@ ~5800-6000 RPM), but probably it has speed limiter - boos was dropping from max to zero when car was reaching 155 mph.
Do other Viggen guys have done any measurements?
K.
P.S.
Mods:
-debagged (+5hp)
-VFA decal (+5hp)
-NKG spark plugs (+10 hp per plug)
:)
