I've run a ~5lb-lightened flywheel (15lbs total) on both my '87 SPG and my '86 900S and was happy with the results in both cases. The thing I noticed first was that my lazy AIC valve in the SPG needed to be replaced ASAP, 'cause the engine wound down a lot faster.. :) But, as Kevin K says, shifting was definitely improved. Off-the-line performance on the SPG did lag a little, but a bump up in timing fixed that. :) The 900S was tangibly improved off-the-line, although not much. Both cars were a little happier to rev, and it was more noticable on the SPG - once boost came up it was ready to go.
