The day I set it up it was about 50 F. I did set it up directly off the compressor as I am not looking for the absolute max power possible. The way I adjusted it was to take it up with coarse adjustment until it hit the cutoff. After that I adjusted the coarse back down just a bit until I no longer got the cutoff. Then I kept slightly adjusting up the fine adjuster until I just tickled the cut. After that I back it off just a hair as to not hit the cut. Now that temps have dropped back down to the low 30's, I expected to possibly have to adjust down a little more, but that is not the case. It is still acting the same.
As far as I have noticed, the pressure doesn't drop at all as I approach redline. The only problem I have noticed is that if I sustain a constant rpm above 3000 in third geaar while waiting to pass someone, I will only get the original max pressure when I floor it. This has happened a few times and I suspect that perhaps I will need a stronger bypass valve. Maybe that will be my next purchase. If I get going without this bleed off, it holds as long as I keep my foot in it, though.
You are correct in that I did not see a reason for a calibrated gage for my desired set up. The boost usually reaches about 30 percent in the red when I don't see the problem I just mentioned. Also, I have done the transition casting work as well as removed the silencer and modded the airbox up to a 70 mm tube, with k&n filter. I am going to look into getting a Viggen intercooler eventually.
Getting the valve was easy. I ordered it directly from Turbo XS and recieved it within a week. Did you get what you were waiting for from them. After I mentioned your name to Mark, that I decided do this because of your posts, he mentioned that you were waiting for a bypass valve or something.
One last thing, I will update you on any increase in top speed when spring comes around and the summer tires go back on. I got 147 mph last summer, before the mods. I am curious as to what the Swedish rocket will do now! And yes, first gear requires some good throttle control to be quick. All the torque I have now is absolutely wonderfull. Thanks for all of your informative posts.
