I got the bypass valve and boost valve at the same time. The bypass valve mounted ok, but the 25mm coupling hose needs 15 or 20mm of length hacked off to fit the valve in the proper orientation, which appears opposite of the OEM valve. This bypass valve stopped the honking that the Bocsh OEM unit made. That got much worse with the increased boost last spring. That was my main motivation for replacing it.
I have the boost valve pressured from the throttle body, tapped into the lower idle control valve hose. This is probably the cause of my valve not keeping up with boost rise. The boost valve shares many features with their basic unit, which does not have a ball-spring arrangement. The inlet hose barb has the restriction orifice in its detail. As I need a controller which will produce a faster rise time or slew rate in the actuator. So I drilled out the hose barb to get a large internal diameter. This will allow the air flow to be increased once the ball unseats. The spring and ball will still produce required restriction which creates the pressure reduction. This configuration with the valve presurized from the manifold or throttle body is not unusual, but has presented some challenges, for both the TurboXS and the Hallman controllers. It is clearly this confuration and my mods that create this situation. I have not had a pleasant day to see where I can get by adjusting the modified TurboXS valve. I will report later.
I will be making some mechanical mods to the bypass valve to increase its slew rate. Not that I feel that I will get performance improvement, but just interested in seeing if it can be done.
Where did you mount your valve? Location easy to adjust, or minimized hose lengths?
