The work that would be preformed in between to bring thse components up to or beyond the "REDHEAD" level that S&D calls it's items wouldn't strike me as being really expensive. I've had head work done on other cars in the past including replacing the head all together, but in my opinion the cost is not in parts. It's in labor of the whole R&R process that kills you. However if you tear-down the engine yourself, and can put it back together (correctly that is) your ahead of the game and would only be talking about the machine work. Again, I haven't gotten quotes but my guess is less than $500 bucks.
