Steven,
It would be very possible that the car has a faulty apc solenoid or stuck wastegate as well, considering it's lack of miles. Saab's must be driven regularly to preserve them. I'm sure many people on this board could agree on this. Have you driven any other 86'-89' 9000 turbos to compare the performance with? I have had numerous late 80's 9000T's and have found them all to be very quick, but to be on the safe side, make sure that you have the car checked out thoroughly to ensure a long healthy relationship. With a few very inexpensive modifications, you could have your 86' extremely quick, just make sure that everything is in good working order, and that nothing is dried out under the hood. Also be careful of the tranny on the 86', it was especially rough that year, and also be careful with turbo cool down, as the 86' was the only year to not have water-cooled bearings. Just my $.02, welcome to the club!
