NG900 Transmission...better than 900C?

Hello all, I'm planning out my next "newer" car purchase about 8-12 months from now. I'm considering a 97 Saab 900 Turbo as one of the cars due to it's low cost, and the amount of car you get for the money.
I noticed they changed the engine orientation, and I can only assume then that they have a traditional FWD transaxle in place.
How does the NG 5spd hold up to higher hp environments. Is it a time bomb like the 900C?
Thanks in advance.
