The GT series is a newer design that's probably more efficient to begin with. The ball bearing reduces spinup friction on the shaft by a large amount. Two things cause lag:ineria of rotating parts and friction from oil film. IF you look on turbonetics website, they claim when comparing identical sized turbos, the bb type spins up at 300-500 lower rpm. NOt to mention the bb is angled at one end like a wheel bearing to support higher thrust load, which should make it last longer. SO, my theory is you can get a larger sized turbo for more power but should have same or even less lag than stock size turbo. I'll let you know by the later part of this year! I think they start around $1300. I don't think fmic will reduce lag. Front mount intercooler is also part of the plan though.
