The WRX is dramatically cheaper than all of these. Moreover, if you're into tuning cars, the WRX can be upped northward of 300 hp relatively easily, and you'll still be cheaper than pretty much any car you've mentioned. For 24.5k (MSRP), you get 227 hp and very good handling in the WRX. However, this engine takes a bit of getting used to, because it revs very high and has a relatively small amount of torque. For instance, test drive a Viggen, then test drive the WRX. I own a Viggen and test drove the WRX, and I was completely unimpressed. However, I was trying to drive the WRX like the Viggen. If you're at 2,500 rpm in the Viggen, and you floor it, you move. If you're at 2,500 rpm in the WRX, and you floor it, you don't go anywhere. The car has no power below 3k rpm.
With this choice, it depends on what you want: if you want luxury, the WRX isn't for you. Subaru basically put all the money into the engine, awd, in dash 6-CD changer, seats, and steering wheel. The rest of the car is crappy, in my opinion. There's no heated seats, no ACC, no leather, etc. If you just want to have fun, without luxury, the other cars are fine.
I'd also include the IS300 (no with a manual tranny) and even the Maxima, and I generally cannot stand Japanese cars. These cars are cheap and yet have high performance. To me, the Maxima looks better than the A4, although the Maxima is bigger.
