My first thought is that you are hearing turbo whine through the air box.
You put holes the bottom of the air box? That would not be good practice as the turbo gets hot air from under the hood, and under summer temperatures you will get a net loss of power. There are NG900 mods to replace the 15" 50mm snorkle tube with a funnel mod, or cut out the front of the air box and bond in some 3" thin walled plastic pipe. Don't know how the 9K is layed out.
I expect that you have a T5 ECU.
If you got a modfied ECU, you can use that with the MBC and get big time boost. Or you could add a resistor to the signal ouput line of the MAP sensor to fake out the ECU. After the ECU adapts, you will be able to go after higher boost. You could start with 100 ohms and try that. Your boost indicator guage will always then read low, but that is what you expect from a faked out ECU. The engine might be rough and nasty until it gets adapted. Do this with a hot engine and hot cat and down pipe. Then the O2 sensor(s) will be able to play the adaption game much sooner then with things stone cold. You should probably remove the battery to make the ECU do an adaption from scratch. Brad can provide further advice.
I assume that you have a intercooler and no BPC valve.
