really? There is no room. The pictured header will disipate vastly more heat as well. That would be a real issue.
For mild boost street duty turbos, equal length headers do not make much sense for number of reasons.
For competition track racing where things are near the breaking point, equal length headers can help keep the cylinders running the same load and heat duty cycles. As the engine is as strong as the weakest cylinder....
Also, exhaust tuning requires longer headers, and with a catalytic converter, the lengths are not long enough, but racers don't have cat converters. Street vehicles do. But with exhaust tuning, the tuning reflection lenghts are the distance to the muffler or other first abrupt flow section change. Equal length paths allow the tuning to be effective.
Tuning has the objective to attempt to get the backpressure lower at time of exhaust valve closing. This allows for greater filling of the cylinder with air and fuel. But with a street turbo, the back pressure will be around 2x's the boost, or 30 PSI. Hardly the same situation. And volumetric air charge efficiency is obtained by 15PSI in the intake manifold.
With a NA engine with exhaust tuning, the increase in power will exist for a certain RPM band only. This sweet spot is usually tuned to suit specific racing conditions.
