with trionic-5 you actually feel kind of guilty(yah right) by just dropping in a new ECU and opening up the breathing. The tuners can set up real progressive boost/fuel curves to be gentle on the tranny and also make it very streetable by slowly build to max boost. I run 1.5+, with only 1st gear boost levels stock. The 9000 tranny can take it with the right tires. My aero will start to loose grip at 1.3bar in 2nd, so I have to roll into it softly. I've switched back to the stock ecu and compared at the same boost levels the car is much faster. I guess because the tuned ecu knows the exhaust is 3" and stock doesn't. The 2.3 will make great horse power numbers but the proof is in the torque curve. Need a stronger pressure plate to handle 1.3+ below 3500 rpms.
