Abbott Ecu vs. HBC review

I have recently had the chance to hook up a boost gauge to a hbc and a Abbott ecu. The differences may suprise you. The cost of these units are around $100 for the hbc and $1000 for the ecu. The test where conducted on a ng900 with a forge valve, sport exhaust, and a k&n airfilter in dry conditions.
The HBC regulates the boost by a bleeder valve. This tricks the car into thinking that the car is not running as much boost. The controller limits boost in only the first gear to about 7psi. In all of the other gears a max of 14.5psi can be achieved.
The Abbott unit limits the boost in each gear. First gear in allowed 5psi. Second gear 7psi. Third gear 11 psi and forth 12psi and finally fifth gear it allowed 14psi. Now with this unit there is some over boost but the numbers I listed are boost numbers at wide open throttle not over boost. Abbott claims that the unit can achieve more power by simply screwing the wastegate down with a max of 1.5 bar or 22psi but they recommend using only 1.15 bar or 16psi. I could not find this to be true.
I do not think we need to tell you what my impressions were while driving the car but when comparing the two units the advantage is certainly the HBC in terms of performance and price. Not to say that the ECU upgrade is not a good upgrade in terms of regulating the fuel and preventing engine knocks but it does not outperform the HBC.
These are just my impression of the two different units and welcome any other feedback that you may have.
