It's hard to tell from the photo, but I'd bet this piston has experienced some severe detonation. Take a look at some of the pot marks around the dish, it looks like bits of the pistons have been vaporized. Extra boost is really only dangerous (up to a point of course) if the fuel curve is allowed to lean out and create a lot of heat or if you exceed to knock limit of the gas and get detonation. Forged pistons give a safetly edge and let you push the limit a bit but are hardly immune to blowing up. You just have to run safe. Don't boost hard without an idea of your fuel/timing curve, air/fuel ratio, and EGT. If your somewhat cautious and run a bit rich you'll be fine. For example, people tended to dismiss hypereutectic pistons for yearsin boost applications, but since the the LT1 came out in the Vetter/f-body people have been running heavy boost and nitrous loads without shattering them. In my experience Saab pistons will put up with a lot of sh*t anyway. Sorry for the ramble.
