One thing to keep in mind is how octane improvers (i.e. the additives in your 92-93 octane) work. Even if you had a gallon of the high octane stuff left in the tank, adding 5 gals of 89 resulted in a mix with a fair amount of the original fuel present. From what I have read, you don't need too much high octane fuel to raise the resulting mix a couple of points up the scale. With decent weather conditions (for a non-predetonating condition), the mangement system in your Aero should of been able to get normal performance out of your mixed fuel. I have also heard from some of my racing buddies that a 50/50 mix of regular and premium is a good way to go resulting in a mid-to-high 90s octane level (urban myth perhaps?).
