Definitely a different intercooler. And it does make a difference. I just installed it in my '97 convertible (see message above). Abbott offers an intercooler also. Quite similar to the Viggen/HOT IC. They claim the following: "It flows a massive 70% more air than the standard unit, with an extra 10 DegC temperature drop. The net result is less turbo lag, much sharper throttle response and 8 Bhp increase @ 5000 Rpm." After installing the Viggen/HOT IC, I believe it.
I'm reasonably certain that the Trionic programing is different also . If you go and spend a few minutes chatting with the parts guy at your local dealer when he's not busy, he'll be able to compare part #'s and confirm that the Trionic ECU has a different part number for the HOT SE(note: autos are different from manuals too). All that really means is that the program flashed into the ROM is a little different (fuel mapping, boost levels, timing, redline, etc). All the circuits are the same, I'm quite sure. The same as an Abbott trionic upgrade, just less so. I'm VERY doubtful that the turbo is different. You could also compare part #'s for the turbos to be sure.
