...anyway, HERE is what's happening.
I made 2 pulleys with the Trionic trigger wheel, and sent them both to Lesco machine for balancing. I also made the bracket for the crank position sensor. It is a 2-piece bracket with about +/-4 degrees adjustment for fine-tuning. I'm having them anodized red and blue like AN fittings this week.
There are 2 pulleys because one will be for the motor I have at the house, one is for the motor that Lesco is building. FYI, the trigger wheel is pressed steel disc about 7" across, with a one-sided flange at the outer diameter. This flange is cut with 60 ribs and 60 equally spaced gaps, then 2 ribs are knocked out. This leaves 58 ribs equally spaced (based on 60 rib pattern) and a big gap. The ECM reads the sensor frequency to determine RPM, and it reads the interruption in the signal (from the gap) to determine a specific degree location of the crank.
In a 9000 or ng900 the wheel is mounted on the crankshaft #1 counterweight, inside the block. Then the sensor pokes through the block wall to read it.
After reverse-engineering the 9000 Aero motor with respect to crank position, trigger wheel position, and sensor position, I think I have nailed the timing of all this stuff. It turns out that at exactly 117 degrees BTDC (the spec in the manual) the sensor is *not* lined up where I assumed it would be. The question is: at 117 degrees, is the gap just reaching the sensor, or equally spaced on the sensor, or just leaving the sensor? Hmmm.
Also, my bracket for the crank position sensor interfered with the bracket for the power steering pump, so I cut back the p.s.p. bracket about an inch, still looks plenty strong (plus it's lighter now).
When I get one of the pulley/trigger wheel assemblies back from Lesco, I am ready for final degree check and alignment of the crank pos. sensor, and the rest of the longblock. Then I will install the motor and start on the wiring harness, yippee!
