...my first saab is an 86 900t that i bought in 1992,which gave me my intro into automotive enthusiasm-after much time, effort & money i feel i've learned quite a bit (a brief stint as Mercedes tech & tech trainee at Saab dealer really taught me the most & increased my confidence level)-Now,in 1995 i had Group 6 build me a performance motor(the most expensive lesson)...i was still a bit naive and trusted them(Frank Freeman & co.)to know what they were doing...at a cost of $4800 they built a 90 t16 motor which had supposedly only done time in a skip barber formula type car in the Zerex series-i must say,the motor is still going quite strong today(but the rings need replaced)--to the present, last week i bought an 88 spg in good running order w/ good trans-this first week i've been replacing some worn items & removing p-restraint belts...next i will remove the motor from the 86 to begin rebuild, doing most of the work myself-i'm going for a "low inertia" engine w/ the typical forged JE pistons & billet rods---now the questions : i was considering having the crankshaft lightened-running in conjunction w/ an aluminium flywheel would this create torsional problems?-would it negatively effect the cranks capacity to deal w/ torsional twist?-would vibration be a problem?---i've heard the 2.1 head has much better flow characteristics,my head has been port matched & polished & breathes fairly well-should i consider the extra bread to obtain a 2.1 head & then the bread to flow it?-would it be money well spent or have only minimal impact?-are the 2.1 intake runners better suited for hi-flow?-can a 2.0 intake man. be stroked to similar 2.1 spec?...and finally i also intend on the ever popular 9000 front mount intercooler, will i be able to work w/ the stock 9000 intake plumbing or get it cu$tom?-any good sites to look at for install inspiration?....thank you for reading all this...
