I have made a lot of water injection system using washer pumps, starting in about 1978 when the first turbos came out. Water would be squired into the turbo inlet. A small orfice would be used to control the flow. The water would come out as a stream then hit the turbine wheel and get atomized. Worked with good results but was not very reliable and would damage the turbine blade after a while and made the turbo efficiency drop.
Using solenoid valves a three stage system could be made to have a more proper amount of water for different boost levels. with reliablity being low and the 8v engine at at that time not having APC some engines were wasted. With the APC engine things were better.
With the coming of the 16v it was learned that water needed to be injected after the intercooler for best results. But in doing so as boost pressure went up water flow went down. Also we discovered that the water need to be a fine mist to be effective, otherwize it did not evapuate and do the job.
If you inject in a tube that is pressureized the pressure of the pump is counteracted by the same amount as boost. So if you have a pump that will do 30psi at the flow you want when you get to 18psi the pressure accross the nozzle is 12psi flow is cut by more than 1/2.
If you desire to use a washer pump spary on the intercooler. Find some kind of misting nozzle that will make the finest spay and mount in front of the intercooler. The will give the best result for dollar spent using these parts.
