Qs re DYI pressure source (for MBC setting, etc)

Greetings!
Does anyone have suggestions for fabricating a do-it-yourself pressure source that can be tapped to apply measured pressure to set controls such as MBC, rough-calibrate boost gauge, etc? What's the home workshop equivalent of a Mity-Vac that creates measured pressure instead of vacuum?
Best idea I have come up with is to cobble together something that would screw onto a tire stem, with connectors attached to another valve stem at one terminus and the other leading to a stopcock and then to a vacuum hose. I'm sure it'll work but I'm also sure someone here has developed a better way.
I'm willing to buy a cheap dingus but the one I found commercially was well over $100. I don't see the need for spending >$100 on the part if I can fabricate it for <$10. (I'd rather spend the money on beer than a one-time tool, a sad fact but at least I'm in touch with my true values.)
Cheers!

AID, open K&N, Sport Exhaust, 24lb injectors, 3.0 fpr, rewired APC, upgraded pinion, SD solid motor mounts, steel brake lines, etc, etc. MBC awaiting fine tuning to 8 psi, in-line to BCV. Motor and tranny rebuilt last year. More fun than new. But she sits dreaming of the open road and I sit chained to desk. Sigh.
