Hey,
I'm still completing the finishing touches to my home made water injection system. Found a 100psi pump, deciding which solenoid valve I want, etc. While doing some research on the internet, somewhere I came across someone who had an insulated container mounted in their trunk, to keep ice cold water/windshield washer fluid in, so that the water being injected into the system would be even colder. The pump was pulling fluid directly from the insulated container.
To save some time and expense... the easiest method, of course... before a day at the track/autocross/etc/etc, grab an ice tray or two, plop them in your windshield waher reservoir. It obviously can't hold up daily because the engine will eventually heat up the fluid, and melt the ice. I'm just saying for time runs, drop it in, the go to it. When you're waiting for another run, put some more ice in.
If you're really into it, you could put the fluid in the refridgerator, maybe freezer for a few minutes, keep it insulated until you get to the track, pour it in, then go at it. I assume the winterized windshield washer fluid wouldn't freeze even if you put it in the freezer.
Another idea is to put up some type of insulation material. Maybe some type of exhaust heat shielding on the engine side, and the reservoir side. Possibly wrapping the reservoir with the insulation too.
This is all in theory, but I don't see how it can hurt! The more you can do to keep heat to a minimum the better.
Anyone see a problem with this?
Just trying to be creative here & help out,
Taylor
