This is not a performance issue, but most likely you will monitor this board. Hopefully you may have some insight into what is causing the engine speed on a 97 9000 to rev to near 2000 RPM on a cold (after sitting for 3 or more hours) start. It slowly brings the RPM to normal idle speed on its own in 10 seconds or so. Sometimes it shoots up so fast it acts like the fuel is momentarially cut off to stop the overspeed. I've cleaned and checked the AIC valve, sensor ground, exercised connectors, changed plugs, checked OBDII sensor values (same as 96 9000 that doesn't do this)and changed Trionic ECU to no avail. Apparently this problem was present since new, there are 3 DI cartridge entries in the warrenty record, 2 at the port. I've heard replacing the cartridge was the recommended fix for this problem. I suspect the engine temperature sensor but can't catch it off value. Any ideas?
