I have installed a Dawes Devices a/f gauge which read lean with my setup.
92 900TC
3.0 bar fpr
24 lb injectors
k&n drop-in
tweaked apc (1 bar)
I pulled the gauge and attached my voltmeter, which read .81 volts at wot/full boost. I know on most a/f gauges this would read close to rich, but Dawes feels that a turbo-charged motor prefers running richer at wot. The scale this gauge uses is as follows:
1st light (red)=.75v-.90v -- you do not have a safe amount of fuel to support your boost level
2nd light (yellow)= .90v-.95v -- a safe amount of fuel is present for your boost level
3rd light (1st High Intensity Green)= .95v-1.0v -- a little rich, you have enough fuel to support more boost
4th light (2nd High Intensity Blue)= 1v to limit of O2 sensor -- too rich for good power
As a result I am actually installing an SPG9 rrfpr to get more fuel at full boost, while you are going the other direction. I have been trying to get my head around this thing for a while now. Does the Dawes scale for the "Turbo A/F Meter" go overboard on prefering the mixture to be overly rich? Do typical non-turbo a/f meters see leaner conditions as preferable? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also, would you mind taking some voltage readings from your 02 sensor at wot/full boost? I would be curious to see how they compare.
