Increase Static CR? Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Thu, 22 Aug 2002 02:49:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello....
I'll soon be coming into possession of a 2.1l head & intake. My plan is to install this stuff on my '86 2-door. While doing so, I'd like to attempt to bump up static compression a little - I'm thinking somewhere between 10.5:1 and 11:1. I realize this will likely result in the need to run Premium, but I don't care since I'm pretty used to paying for it anyway. May get some extra gas mileage out of the deal, too. I'll probably opt for an SPG9 throttlebody at the same time.
Anyway, is it reasonable to do this by removing some material from the head? Can anyone tell me what the relationship would be CR vs. displacement vs. maximum safe amount? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I scrap these plans and look at having the block decked or replace pistons, or.... ?
