Lots of really good reading at the site below. They carry most of what you'll need for performance stuff. Get there and read a little.
People use the 9000 cluth because it's bigger than the 900 and can handle more power. Lightening of the fly wheel by just a little bit(a few lbs makes a big difference). Don't even bother with having your mechanic fiddle with the APC box, alot of people here have done that including myself and it's simply not as good as buying one from one of these companies. Sure they cost $300 but I think they're worth it nuf said..
You'll need plenty of fuel if doing head work, may I suggest a RRFPR and larger injectors. 93 Octane gas will be a must if advancing the timeing or trying to reach 20 psi as some of us here do regularly. The web page above sales trannies from Eriksson's so I'm sure they must be the best you can get in the rebuild dept, at $1,700 they better be. Replace all those hoses with silicone ones from http://www.hosetechniques.com as they help keep piece of mind about vac leaks and whatever. They last a long time and only cost about twice the price of that carppy stock stuff. You can even pick your own color, isn't that cool. Lastly, don't take everything your mechanic says seriously, true he may no Saab's but, that doesnt mean he knows how to get the most out of them, but everyone here on this BB sure does.

Hope this helps,
Phil
