I am telling you now, this is going to be very long!

-Many people do go the 9000 route and for some people that does work. The 9000 clutch does fit, but you will need to get the 9000 fly wheel as well. Your mech is correct, the 900 clutch is good, but they do slip after lots of torque. People have tried many after market clutches, some people liked them and some people don't.

-If you mean the vac hoses, then yes you can use silicon hoses verses the oem rubber hoses. They are two times the price, and last a lot longer! I have them and I am quite happy on how they are holding up.

-Yes APC boxes are quite easy to tweak. If your mech can do it, them let him. I think the RED boxes are over talked. Your mech can do the same mods for a quarter the price, with the same HP gains.

-When you start taking off the head and putting on new turbos, it gets very expensive. Lots of people wait to do these when something breaks. But yes you can get stronger pistons and upgrade the turbo. Different turbos have different benefits. A smaller turbo spools up and bossts faster, but does put out as much boost. I bigger turbo puts out more boost, but takes longer to spool up. Your choice :)

-octane, no matter what the saab, they all react differently to knock. Some run fine and never kncok off 87 octane and some need 93 octane to boost. I would go with 93 octane first, then see how it reacts to less. I always use 93, just to make sure.

-We don't have timing cables, we have chains. They normally hold up for a long time, I replaced mine on my SPG at 250,000 miles. But they can also break. If you are going to moddify I would look into having it replaced. It is not fun when they break.

-Sorry I don't really know what to say about numbers. Maybe someone else can help on this one.

-Most of the gauges you see in your car is what you have. If you start adding gauges you will most like have to put all of them in.

-Not much can be done about trannies. The main upgrade is the pinion bearing. You can get a four speed tranny, but most seem to be staying away from them, not really sure why. GM on this board can help you out with them.

These are big mods and they take a lot of trial and error. Most are what you like and what you prefer. This stuff takes time and money, don't be discouraged. Plus this stuff in highly addictive!!!!!

I hope this helps!
