I drilled and tapped a hole in the exhaust manifold just after the #4 cylinder. Then used 3/16" brake line and connected to my pressure tranducer so that I could log on to my DAK 1 program. I used 3' of line and curled tin a lop three times so that it could accept the vibration and cool.
As for waste gate placement where the port is on the turbo is the best place. You need to keep exhaust flowing in the same direction. If you place it before the last cylinder port you loose.
The magic # is 0. This however is not going to happen with a turbo. The reason all of the high output cars use very large turbos is to reduce back pressure, this does cause a very peaky power curve whick does not work well with a SAAB as daily driver. I have used an Aerocharger and managed a 1:1 ratio from 1800rpm to 6000rpm on a 8V turbo running 8psi and stock exhaust. Removing back pressure after the turbo is the first order of bussiness, then selecting the correct size of compressor and turbin for ones personal requirments would be the next step assuming every thing else in the tunning process is correct to match.
This is fun,no.
