Well, tonight it happened. After spending the day tidying up stuff and not having any success firing the motor, my buddy Marty and I sorted it out. Without his troubleshooting assistance, I'd still be wondering what it was all about.
Turned out the injectors weren't getting power due to a broken fuse. Not a burnt one, anyway, but somehow busted. Anyway, that's in there and sorted. It does fire now, but does not yet idle. Next I will input the fuel and ignition maps I have from Roger Bell's SDS equipped Saab and rock and roll - got to break the cams in, then break the engine in.
Anyway, very joyous!
A few issues that need to be sorted out, besides the idle - fuel return line - not yet happy with this. I couldn't get a fitting to put into my AEM adjustable FPR that was the same size as stock. So I had to go to a 3/8" line, which is just one size over. Initially this was pissing fuel out, but now with a double clamp it's good. I may try to get the appropriate brass fittings to size this down to make it neater.
More worrying, though, is the tranny oil coming out of the dipstick area. However, I think this is due to an o-ring or it being justa-justa bit overfilled. I put in 4L into the strengthened 4-speed, and it might be a tad over. Hopefully have that sorted out soon.
So, it's coming together!
