I have a solo event at the local airport this weekend and I guess it kind of pushed me to go ahead and get an exhaust. I figured the cheapest way was go to a shop and have a custom one made/fitted. I took it to Midas and the manager got really excited he said that they had never done any custom work other than on trucks.

We got the car on the lift and he messed around and measured things, he said about the biggest dia. he could fit around things under the car was 2.5. His only concearn was that he didnt have any mufflers, performance or otherwise that would fit(the 9-3s have an ackward shaped muffler). I told him that I wasnt sure if I wanted to run with no muffler and his response was, "Hell, you have two cats and a turbo I cant imagine it being that loud." (for future reference it can be that loud) Well from there he took the sawzaw to just behind the cat cut everything off...premuffler, muffler and all.

He bent 2.5 and did an awesome job hanging the system then sprayed the back half with dupli color 1200 degree paint so that it would blend in with the underbody. I then picked out a tip from the store which consisted of, 4.5 fartcan, 4 fartcan, chevy bowtie, gigantic oval, or 2.5 slant tip (all polished)....I picked the 2.5 slant tip and had him weld it on so that it was flush with the rear bumper. The funny thing is that the tip looks smaller than the black oval tip saab put on it.

Ummm well, it's loud! It just kind of burbles at idle, much like the saab sport ex. but a little louder, around 1000-2800 rpms it pretty much sounds like a F350 then past that it is just as smooth as it was before, only a slight bit louder.

As for performance...I can't notice a huge difference lowend over stock, it seems to spool alot quicker once up to speed...however, this could just be mind over matter.

I think it was worth the 155 bucks they did a clean job. Now all I have to do is find a good generic muffler. Any suggestions?
Sorry for the length
