hello,
dad and i are putting a turbo on the b motor. planning on upgrading to a 88-89 900 5 speed. a few questions that i was unable to self-answer with the search function:
1. does the 900 5 speed bolt right to the surface of the 99 block, or are holes required to be drilled/moved/fabricated?
2. is there any difference in overall depth of the 4spd vs. 5 spd that will affect proximity to the subframe?
3. afaik, the only change is the front cover plate that covers the chain drive system from the clutch to the input shaft of the 5 spd. there has to be something more than this, i assume there is a difference in clutches. if so, will i need a different flywheel?
4. are aluminum flywheels and/or limited slip units available for the 5 speed?
5. are there different gear ratio and/or strength issues that i should be aware of in various years of the 900 production?
alright, that's enough for me...thanks again for the help. this little ems says thanks. you can almost see the smile on its grill now that we have begun work on it after 10 years of sitting in wait.
