The MBC is regulating the pressure at the point in the system where you connected MBC inlet hose.
The boost indicator is showing pressure at the throttle body. The drop that you see is mostly the pressure drop across that restrictive IC that you have. The pressure drop goes with RPMs or more correctly CFMs. I had moved my pressure tap to the center of the stock IC's integral return pipe. That helped a lot.
Right now I have a Viggen IC and the MBC is taking pressure from the throttle body. This will eliminate most boost droop issues until you run up to the limits of the turbo itself.
This is a worst case config for pressure overshoots. I have a pop-off valve to eat some of the pressure overshoots. Until I get into cold weather it would be silly of me to say that it will eliminate fuel cuts, I have my doubts. I will likely do a MAP sensor minor resistor hack as well and try that.
So the MBC is a collection of tradeoffs.
$35, some problems, great spool up, learn about issues
$450+ more power, no fuel cuts, slower spool up
450+35, ECU + MBC, best of both worlds, try a series connection first
All of this applies to the T5ECU 95NG->99_9-3 and some 9Ks.
