this combo, 6% more torque capacity? Posted by Kevin K [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 9000T clutch upgrade for c900, pondhick, Thu, 14 Nov 2002 19:40:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2L 9kT disc with stock 90 900T pp.
disc is 9" od, vs usual 8.5" for 900T
assume same pressure plate, same disc thickness and friction mat'l, and same id of disc friction surface (u said 9k was smaller).
torque capacity is based on pp force, and radial dist to center of pressure of disc friction surface. since pp force is same, optimistic torque limit increase is just 9/8.5= 1.06 or 6%.
But with more pad area, will improve life, and be more resistant to overheating when intentially slipping it.
Note those 2 engines were rated at about same torque, about 190 ft-lbs. The big upgrade kick comes with the 2.3T 9.5" clutch, with heavy force pp, that is for a 250 ft-lb engine.
