Forget the thin high tech insulation. Those materials are not very good insulators. They are effective with very high temperatures mostly in combatting radiation heat transfer. Expensive too.
The plastic ducts don't need an insulation for such high temps, as the plastic would be melted already. Its not that hot. Go to the hardware store and get the 1/4" thing aluminumized bubble pack. It is much more effective for moderate temperature applications like this than the products that you reference. I wrap the ducts and clip with steel paper clamps from the office supply company.
I found this quite effective in reducing hot weather induced boost lag on my 95SET. I wrapped the air box and down to near the turbo, but could not get too close because of the intense radiative heat there. Then from the IC discharge and covered part of the throttle body as best that I could.
That came mostly off when I installed the Viggen IC in the spring of 2002. I found that with the Viggen IC things were quite decent in the heat so much of the insulation was not there for the summer.
The plastic duct is very smooth and eliminates coupling losses and the losses of nasty things like the NG900 94-99 9-3 throttle body transistion casting. So it is good that way. Better than aluminum pipe for heat transfer, but still a lot of heat gain there. I know the temperature rise does not seem like it would be much, but the effect of the insulation was quite good with the 95SET.
If you could get some phenolic spacers made to isolate the aliminum intake manifold from the hot aluminum head, that would be good. And fit a valve to the hot coolant loop that heats the throttle body, you don't need that on in warm weather. The heat is a good idea in the winter to keep the moisture the PVC orifice from freezing.
