since I'm not ready to dive into stand alone engine management, either. I'd love to give it a shot some day, and my SPG is not a daily driver (I walk to the metro every day), so it *could* happen. Right now I have enough power to destroy my transmission again soon enough.

Anyway, adding water was incredible in the instant difference it made. I'd say it is the best bang-for-the-buck mod I have made. Yes, it's a lot of bucks, but it's a helluva lot more bang! :o) Detonation is gone, which no amount of fuel can cure. It really smooths out the power in this car's sweet spot, too (upper RPMs under boost in 3rd - 5th gears).

The only mods left on my radar for now are perhaps lightening/buy an aluminum flywheel, custom clutch, 3" exhaust, and maybe a FMIC from a 944 turbo, Viggen, or Volvo. As it is (now that I cured this ghost) it has more power than I can safely handle as an amature driver.

I hear ya about prioritizing mods! My ideal top 5 order if I started over:

1. handling & braking (shocks, springs, tires, drilled/slotted rotors)
2. water injection
3. forge BPV (a must have for high boosting cars)
4. turbo upgrade (stock Saab turbos are not built to handle above 18 psi for very long)
5. Brad's mod to the vac. advance unit

and a freebie: my little BOC mod. :o)

Re: Saabs in the snow: I saved my brother's life in my 89 900 T (now owned by "the Nord" who posts here occasionally). In the NC snow storm 2 years ago, he and his girlfriend were trapped at RDU airport. I lived in Chapel Hill at the time, and he called me from the airport. It took me two hours to dig out of my parking space! Once I got out of my apartment complex, I was one of the only cars on the road that could drive through the 26" of snow! It was awesome, like rally driving. Very cool, and still a great story we can tell.

Be safe out there!

Take care,

Mike
