well, still kinda tuning it. I haven't had alot of time w/ the snow, replacing the stolen puter, and finding out I have to move in a two weeks. Plus I'm still dealing w/ charging issues which I tink will subside after I ground the batteries to the engine block or such.
Well I replaced the shutter wheel, turned the key and schabang the beast started up on the first crank. Perfect idle. The first trial run was a little dissapointing w/ alot of hesitation on boost. At first I wasn't sure what was going on. It looks to be the plug gap is too big for my 10:1cr lpt setup and the h2o inj set at 1-2psi was too early for the set timing of the di/apc unit. I ended up disconnecting the apc solenoid, ait and h2o inj to narrow down the problems and still noticed the hesitation which was more like a bog at boost, so I reduced the plug gaps and that got rid of most of the bog but I still noticed intermediate hesitations and a slight resistance to throtte during boost. Today I plugged just the ait in and most of the resistance has dissapeared and only a slight hesitation exist. I haven't checked the base timing yet, but I figured it couldn't be too off and the ion sensing would resolve PPP. Now to check timing w/ the di cassette, I guess I'll have to hook up a voltage divider to cyl 1 trig and mod a timing light to work.
other bad news, the knocking noise from block is taking longer and longer to go away after being started. the 5w30 and cold weather have seemed to make it worse. Bad rod bearings?!? eeks.. possibly. So it might be soon to pull the engine, new bearings, seals, and maybe some forge pistons to drop the cr.. That would be interesting.
