if you are looking at stand alone systems, your goals are set above the limits of the stock ecu. you are more than likely seeking to look outside the normal realm of engine management. many who have gone this route have made their choices for varying degrees of reasons. in most cases, part of standing alone involves having something else that someone else does not have. every system has its benefits and quirks. everyone who has put one in will attempt to justify that theirs is the best because they have spent a lot of time and money going that route. the true benefit of standalone systems in the saab community will come when more than one person has the same system and can then share maps and tuning experiences to raise the bar across the board, imho. until then, we will just be attempting to "trump" the other person in an effort to stand out. pioneering is certainly some of the lure in going this route. many of the systems have the same features, they just have different ways to access them, and call them different things. so really, it is a matter of preference of what you want. some features differ from unit to unit and you should post here if you are looking to see what the benefits of a given feature are from those who have used them. anyway, just do your research and bounce questions off the forum here. then do a reality check on the the info you get to ensure that it is unbiased.
