Tyler,
The shop that I wanted to cut my springs wanted just over $240 (4 hours X $60) for the springs to be removed, cut, and reinstalled.
I figured since Intrax lowering springs were around $250, and then another $150ish to install them, I would save going the cut method. But, I forgot about how much SPG springs go for. I sold my SPG springs for $150 + S&H, here in the classifieds section.
So, aftermarket spring wise, $250, $150ish to install (or cheaper), plus you get $150 back... aftermarket springs are the way to go. You end up spending just about the same amount for better quality.
Handling wise, obviously the aftermarket springs will make your car handle better, that's why they were made. Cutting a coil out of the SPG springs, will of course, lower the car, plus make them stiffer. Go grab a 1" long spring from a pen, then cut it in half, it will be easier to bend when it's 1" long, before you cut it. Just because it's shorter, it will become somewhat stiffer, but not as stiff as aftermarket springs.
I know a few people who are looking for SPG springs that I could put you into contact with.
Anyway, just my two cents,
good luck & take care
Taylor
RIP Kyle & Tim
