When I bought my new SPG it had the White faced version of the Autometer, very easy to read at night, however I wasn't so thrilled with the white face in the day time. I had the VDO one in my 99Turbo gauge pod mounted on the dash of my old SPG and decided to transfer it to my new car.
The VDO one really needs to have one of the color gels over the bulb because its too obnoxious without them. I choose green and it is highly visible at night, at matches the stock dash colors.
The only real difference id\s the size of the numbers, the Autometer has more and the larger ones are easier to read at first, hoewever once you have either one installed it is pretty easy to figure out how much boost your running.
