If it was a vacuum leak, I doubt the resistance change from 330 ohm to 270 would mostly calm the idle. The dealer had set the timing to 18 BTDC when the car was stock and it idled perfecty 850rpm and amazingly smooth. This is the chain of events that ocured, with no modifications inbetween. With injector install (lumpy and slightly erratic), MSD install (smooth and stable), 330 ohm resistor (high and erratic), ajusted timing to 20 BTDC (no noticeable change in idle), 270 ohm resistor (1000rpm and less erratic).
When speeking to Gary with SD, he told me that most cars will hit the fuel pump cutoff at half the red on the bost gage. My car did not hit the fuel cutoff until the needle passes the end of the red. Maybe my mass air flow sensor puts out less of a signel to begin with and adding the extra resistance is to much.
Thank you for your advice, I will recheck my vacuum lines.
