I would appreciate help with "how-to", websites, links, or information. I have bought an 84 900T which was modified some ways. It's my 9th 900T, but all others were stock (including 2 1990 SPGs I currently have). I have ZERO experience in modifications. I wasn't aware it was modified until I arrived in N.Y. State to pick it up. I asked about 25 questions prior to agreeing to buy it, but I SHOULD have asked 28, I guess!

Here's what I know:
(1) Has an intercooler in it per Mark Jeter instructions.
(2) Has what I was told is a "manual boost control" zip-tied behind the right headlight. It looks like something made up at a hardware store (not commercially), with 2 lines to it, and one allen head 3/8-24 bolt (for adjustment?). One of the lines goes to the turbo wastegate, the other goes to the piping between the turbo output which hooks to the bellows that goes to the fuel distributor.
(3) Has NO APC solenoid on the radiator cross-member.
(4) I was told "the APC is disconnected", but now I realize I don't know if that meant the APC solenoid had been removed, or the APC (isn't that behind the panel next to the passengers right lower leg?) is "unplugged".
(5) It has a Vacuum/Boost gage in the cubby hole, and the OEM boost gage appears to still work, also.

So, when I drove the car home (to Maine), it doesn't seem to have ANY boost control. It will boost to 1/2 to 3/4 in red, then spits/coughs (I think "boost over-pressure switch" might be shutting off fuel?). Using part-throttle (under 1/2) results in fairly normal strong feeling/looking boost, and LOTS of power, but I don't know for how long. I don't hear any pinging, but I'm somewhat deaf, so no help there!

I tried to adjust the boost manually, as I had been led to believe, to no avail. I went to the "thing" that's zip-tied to the area where the APC solenoid should be, and turned the bolt "in" one turn. No effect. Two more turns - no effect. Three more turns - no effect. Twelve turns in - no effect. Well! I took the bolt out to see if I could figure out its point of view - sort of tapered on the end, looks like it should be able to close off the connection between the two pieces of line (wastegate to "thing" to turbo output). It was not threaded long enough to fully reach in far enough, so I used a Die to add more threads. Now it seems long enough so it should close the connection. Screwed it in, felt like it bottomed into the far end to the "thing". STILL boosts to the killer zone, showing no inclination to limit its boost in any way.

Now at this point, I have no idea what is supposed to "manually control" the boost pressure, or how this "system" might have ever worked. I don't believe the fellow who sold it knows anything, either. I have no knowledge of this concept. I do have 8-valve Bentley & Haynes, and 16-valve Bentley. No car to look at for comparisons!

I'd sure appreciate some guidance, help, etc. I figured all this is IN the data base here, searched several different ways, and each one came up empty handed. I don't know much, but I can read manuals, and hope some people have some experience to share?
