it really depends on how you drive it. If you really stay on top of the turbo lag and push it, it moves pretty well. My SPG at its fastest (wintertime, prior to the failing headgasket) is probably on par as far as the butt dyno is concerned. The WRX's thrust comes in more of a wave, as compared to the SPG's sudden yank. I find the latter more entertaining, but this leads me to the major difference: I feel safer doing such things in the WRX. The level of control and confidence is much higher. The AWD and long susp travel make dicing around the real world far more comfortable. The WRX's performance is far more consistent, the SPG seems to serve up a hairier edge. Each is a lot of fun in its own way.
As far as stoplight runs go- saabers save your trannies for automatic (hard to tell right away) or poorly driven (even more so) WRXs. Even if you have significantly more power/torque, we just can't match a good AWD launch. Regardless of how fast each car builds speed on the move, turbo + awd take off like a slingshot from a stop.
Have fun, and keep it safe everyone.
