But the drivers usually are. Most people that get one them don't really know how to put the power down. When it comes to launching, the WRX has the a huge advantage and could destroy any saab, IF the driver knows what they are doing. To get the best launch on street tires, you want to spin the tires just a little bit when you take off (just a scrape). That is very easy for saab drvers, we do it all the time we have to teach ourselves to back off. For the subbie drivers it's much more difficult and it requires a clutch drop in the mid 4000's rpms. 1) The subbie drivers have to know this 2) be willing to do it to there brand new cars. Car and driver knows this and that is why they are able to get sub 6 sec 0-60's. Also drivetrain reliablilty has been hit or miss with wrx's, some have modified and had no problems, while others have made gear soup with stock power. When you drive the WRX don't think of it like a saab turbo, there is no huge rush of torque in the mid range, actually think more about wringing it out like a honda and shifting it at 7k (I believe theUK version redlines at 7.5k with the same hardware) most driving are afraid to launch hard or push it to the redline, that is why you may often beat wrx's. In the most capable hands though it is fierce competitor, I think of it as 69 camaro for the 2000's and no I don't plan on giving up my saab for one.
