Not just some cool water to cool things. when water goes from a liquid to a gas and changes phase, it is an endothermic process, and sucks up a lot of energy in the form of latent heat in the air. This occurs as the finely vaporized water particles are expose to very hot turbulent charge air.
there is an xr4ti site/guy that tested a crude unit ... over 150F temp drop as I recall ... no IC.
If a very good IC is employed, then water inj'n will not work as well ... needs the hot air.
